Our base (inactive) ingredients have been specifically formulated to work well with our active ingredients and to be non-pore-clogging. Our mixes have a pH of approximately 4-5 (although the pH varies by formulation), and are free of any added fragrances. Curology formulas are cruelty-free and are never tested on animals.

The base for our custom prescription formulas with 3 active ingredients contains: aloe barbadensis leaf juice, C13-14 isoparaffin, caprylic/capric triglyceride, deionized water, laureth-7, phenoxyethanol, polyacrylamide, tocopheryl acetate, triethylene glycol. 

All formulas containing tretinoin also contain the antioxidant butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), and formulas containing both niacinamide and azelaic acid, as well as formulas with spironolactone, may also contain propylene glycol.

Our key ingredient is salicylic acid (aka BHA, or beta hydroxy acid), which is great at dislodging the dead skin cells that accumulate in your pores, encouraging exfoliation and helping prevent the buildup of sebum and debris that can contribute to acne breakouts. Allergies?

You may want to consider doing a patch test. Be sure to reach out to your licensed dermatology provider if you have specific questions, however, you can follow the below general guidelines for patch testing your products prior to using them on your face. 

FORMULA- Apply a small amount to the inner crease of your LEFT elbow 2 times a day for 7 days

MOISTURIZER- Apply a small amount to the inner crease of your RIGHT elbow 2 times a day for 7 days

CLEANSER- Rub in to the inner aspect of the LEFT wrist for a few minutes, then rinse off.  Do this twice a day for 7 days. This product shouldn't be applied and left on the skin.

ANY OTHER LEAVE-ON PRODUCT- Apply a small amount to the inner aspect of the RIGHT wrist. Do this twice a day for 7 days.

A red, itchy rash would be suspicious for allergy. Stop the patch test if this occurs.

If you have no reaction, try using the product on a small area of your face for a week.

If you have no reaction after 1 week, you may use on the rest of your face. Please consult your licensed dermatology provider if you have any questions or concerns.
